Smart Select All
Hotkeys
Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Shift+A
About
This script modifies the native Nuke Ctrl+A "Select All" hotkey to be context aware. For example, if you click inside a backdrop, and try to “Select All” it will select all nodes within that backdrop (including the backdrop.) If you run select all over nothing, it will select everything, as it would normally
How It Works
Select All: Select nothing, or nodes that are NOT on a backdrop, or click in an empty space of the Node Graph, and press Ctrl+A to select all nodes in the file
Select All On Backdrop: Select a node that is on a backdrop, or click inside a backdrop, and press Ctrl+A to select all the nodes on that backdrop, and the backdrop itself
Select Backdrop: Click inside a backdrop, and press Ctrl+Shift+A to select that backdrop only. This pairs well with the scaling scripts, and allows you to resize a backdrop quickly
Iterative Selection: After using Ctrl+A or Ctrl+Shift+A on a nested backdrop, press either again to iterate selection up to the next largest backdrop
